Court Planning Change in Happy Camp Court Schedule
As a result of budget reductions and the declining number of cases on the Happy Camp Branch’s Court Calendar, Siskiyou Superior Court plans to hear cases in Happy Camp on every second Monday of the month on odd numbered months (January, March, May, July, September, and November) beginning on November 9, 2009. Court will thus be held in September, October and November of 2009, but will not be held in December 2009. This is a change from the current practice of hearing cases each month on the second Monday. It should also be noted that when there is a holiday on the day court is in session in Happy Camp, Court is scheduled for the third Monday of the month in which the holiday occurs.
In announcing the planned change, Presiding Judge Laura Masunaga stated, “Over the last two years our court has seen a decline in the calendar of traffic and small claims cases heard in Happy Camp one day per month. The reduced caseload, along with substantial cuts to our budget, has made it necessary for us to hear cases in Happy Camp every other month.”
The change in Happy Camp’s calendar is being made in compliance with the California Rules of Court, Section 10.620, and persons interested in making written comments to the court may send correspondence by September 30, 2009 to: Larry Gobelman, CEO; Siskiyou County Superior Court, P.O.
