1.
You
have the right to have your citation read in open court.
2.

have a right to an attorney at all stages of the proceedings.

have a right to a continuance to obtain an attorney if you want one.

have a right to call your own witnesses and if necessary to use power of the
Court to subpoena witnesses to present evidence on your behalf.

have a right to confront and cross-examine the witnesses against you.
6.
You
have a right against self-incrimination, which means you cannot be required to
testify. You may waive this right and testify on your behalf if you wish, but
by doing so you will be giving up your right against self- incrimination, you
could be questioned about anything you say, and anything you say can be used
against you.

You
may plead guilty or nolo contendre (no contest). Nolo contendre has the same
legal effect as a plea of guilty but cannot be used against you as an admission
in any civil suit.

have the right to a speedy trial within 45 days of your entry of a not guilty
plea. You may waive this right if you need more time.

have a right to wait at least six hours before sentence is imposed after a
conviction; sentence must be imposed within five days. You may waive these

The
maximum sentence on most infractions is a fine and assessment of $340.00 though
some may go as high as $880.00 or higher. If you are on probation or parole,
that could be revoked even without a conviction on this new case.
